In the City of Bridges, Pikimal Picks the Rivers

The sun is shining, it’s finally cooled down a bit and we’ve just returned from an exciting kayak adventure on the Allegheny River. Being situated so close, it was a short three-bridge walk from our offices to Kayak Pittsburgh, a local nonprofit dedicated to getting Pittsburghers outside and moving.

It’s difficult to resist the siren song of a nearby river on a hot day.

As a Pikimal employee, I was curious whether the kayaks that we were provided would be covered in our Kayaks Piki. Sure enough, we received an Emotion Advant-Edge Kayak, a model which has been ranked highly for price, comfort, and general use.

And we’re off! Out to sea like newborn turtles on the wave.

It was a beautiful day to be in the water – great in the sun, and cool in the shade. Luckily Pittsburgh does not want for bridges, so we hit the shady patches with frequency. Meet the stalwart leader of the pack, our CEO Eric P. Silver. The ‘P’ may or may not stand for ‘Pikimal’.

After a good long while of paddling, sunning, racing, and scaring ducks, we were ready to come back to work. Though, perhaps not all of us…

So what did we learn from our river adventure? That kayaking is awesome and we should do more of it, first of all. But more importantly, that our templates recommended a great kayak on multiple lists. The kayaks we used were comfortable, low-price, and, indeed, good for general use. Obviously they were durable enough to be handled by the likes of our slipshod bunch.

Do you kayak? Do you love your kayak? Rate it now in our Kayaks Piki.
